Executive Creative Director: Global Brand and Design Consultancy

Our client is brand consultancy, based in London, New York City and San Francisco. The company’s purpose is to create transformative brands that push what’s possible for people, businesses and the world, exploring new ways of doing things and using creativity to make a difference.

They currently seek an Executive Creative Director to join their team to set the vision and the standard for the business and for its people within the design community. The Executive Creative Director will play an active role within projects and the community by engaging in new business development and organic growth opportunities, bringing unconventional thinking and creativity, taking responsibility for the commercial performance of accounts and the wider business, championing the company culture and mentoring and stretching people’s potential to deliver the best work of their lives.

Responsibilities:

- Act as a trusted partner, confidant, and brand advisor to C-level clients while ensuring client satisfaction and retention

- Possess a unique ability to both understand client’s businesses and the company’s full offerings to realize business development opportunities

- Help fill the pipeline with new opportunities by actively development industry relationships and cultivating new prospects

- Lead new business pitches for prospective clients, directing others through the process

- Leverage learnings from both successful and unsuccessful pitches to improve overall processes and win rate

- Steer multiple large, complex projects with multi-disciplinary teams, as well as smaller fast-paced projects

- Transform insight, data and strategic hypotheses into a singular, compelling and creative story

- Set the vision and expanded offerings for the discipline in partnership with the Chief Creative Officer and President/MD

- Ensure that in addition to creative excellence, work follows best practices, is commercially viable, can be resourced and executed to the highest quality on time, and on budget/ is profitable

- Lead local Creative Directors to ensure the creative excellence of everything that goes out of the door, and encouraging a culture of learning through shared knowledge and best practices

- Play an active role in reviewing and improving the performance of the team including contributing new tools and methodologies

- Where appropriate lead formal performance review processes

- Represent company and its reputation at speaking engagements at big events and in order to build an influential creative network

Requirements:

- 15+ years of experience in a creative agency environment, preferably a brand consultancy

- Previous extensive experience as a creative director from a branding background with deep experience in one or more disciplines i.e. visual identity, sonic, motion and sensory identity, user interface, verbal identity and messaging, launch and activation)

- Demonstrated experience leading a variety of multi-disciplinary teams and possibly a design department

- Have a strong understanding and expertise in brand strategy

- Bring a good reputation in your own right

- Have a proven track record in winning significant new business through pitches

- Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to design projects into the long term with a view to organic growth and relationship extension

- Have the judgment and experience to direct your team in finding resolutions empowering, motivating, nurturing and inspiring others. You will give your team space while stretching and pushing them to grow and succeed

- Enjoy expanding your network and can quickly establish rapport with clients and your team with a relentless, infectious positive energy that others feed on

- Able to remain calm and positive in the face of changes, business challenges and unique requirements of a project-driven business
