Executive Strategy Director, Temp to Perm: Renowned Global Brand and Design Consultancy

Our client is brand consultancy, based in London, New York City and San Francisco. The company’s purpose is to create transformative brands that push what’s possible for people, businesses and the world, exploring new ways of doing things and using creativity to make a difference.

They currently seek an Executive Strategy Director in a temp to perm capacity to join their team and make an immediate impact. The Executive Strategy Director sets the strategic vision and the standards for the discipline in partnership with the President/MD and Global Principals. This role is active within projects among prospective clients, current clients and within the company community by championing company culture and stretching others to ensure everyone is delivering the best work of their lives.

Throughout the company they are recognized as business leaders, commanding gravitas with both clients and teams, breaking new ground through unconventional thinking and creativity and taking responsibility for the commercial performance of their accounts and the wider business. This role includes significant new business development and organic growth responsibilities.

Responsibilities

- Being a trusted partner and advisor to C-level clients while ensuring client satisfaction and retention

- Understanding our client’s business and our full offering, to realise growth opportunities in other areas of the business.

- Becoming the brand confidant with clients, using this relationship to secure future opportunities

- Leading the pitch for prospective clients, directing others through the process ensuring the quality of the pitch meets the 3 c’s criteria of our work creative, commercial, cultural

- Actively developing industry relationships to cultivate new prospects

- Leveraging learnings from both successful and unsuccessful pitches to improve our processes and win rate

- Pushing the disciplines of strategy, design and change – taking them into new areas and being an instigator of debate in the industry and the media.

- Providing oversight and direct authorship of world-class strategic deliverables, points-of-view and proposals

- Pushing the ambition and quality of the work across your client portfolio, ensuring it meets the agency’s exacting standards and makes us proud

- Being an inspiring change maker for clients, convincing a range of stakeholders with logic and emotion, and helping them go through a full business transformation journey

- Being cross-disciplinary in your thinking, partnering and collaborating with Design, Engagement and new business in everything you do

- Shaping our commercial offering and innovating what we do and how we deliver to meet ever-changing market needs

- Developing the strategic offering for our business

- Having a strong understanding of what is commercially viable on projects

- Having an understanding of the business's current position, working closely with Engagement and Resourcing to ensure profitability on projects

- Ensuring commercial understanding of those on the project, encouraging them to take commercial responsibility

- Developing, communicating and managing the expected standard for strategy

- Cultivating a culture of learning by sharing knowledge and best practices

- Playing an active role in reviewing and improving the performance of the community, including contributing new tools and methodologies

- Playing an active role in ensuring the community has the right overall shape and mix of talents to support our business ambition

- Where appropriate leading formal performance review processes for the community

- Working across offices to align on best practices

Requirements

- 15-20+ years of experience in an agency environment, preferably a brand consultancy

- Experience as a brand leader and transformation expert (deep expertise in enterprise-level brand purpose/positioning and portfolio strategy/architecture required)

- Have a proven track record in winning significant new business through pitches

- Speak the language of culture/employee engagement, customer experience, innovation and/or insights and analytics

- Able to consult with clients on a range of brand and marketing issues

- Most likely have a rich experience of roles, deep sector experience, possibly a postgraduate qualification, e.g. MBA

- Have previously led a variety of multi-disciplinary teams and feel at home working with client services and design

- Most likely be a sector specialist in an area related to our work – e.g. technology, finance – or a pioneer in a certain methodology or practice, e.g. service innovation

- Have previous experience in helping to change large, established organizations or up-scale fast growth, tech-led businesses

- Be likely to have a reputation in your own right and must have some expertise and experience in brand

- Be entrepreneurial, with the ability to design projects into the long term with a view to organic growth and relationship extension.
