Finance Manager: Boutique Communications Agency

Our client is a boutique, strategic, UK-based brand-building and communications agency. They opened their first international office in New York City two years ago and have been thriving ever since, representing some of the best and most innovative brands in fashion, beauty and lifestyle. 

They currently seek an amazing and entrepreneurial Finance Manager to join their NYC office. As the Finance Director is located in the UK, this is a fantastic opportunity for a successful candidate to act as a “mini Finance Director” of a small business. The Finance Manager is responsible for running all things finance for the US office, including payroll management and accounts receivable/payable as well as working closely with the US President to maintain the overall financial health of the company. This individual will also play a critical role in raising commercial awareness amongst the client teams – assisting, supporting and educating. Independence and accountability are keys to success in this position.

Responsibilities:

-Accounts Payable – log invoices, credit cards & expenses onto the system, pay suppliers, deal with supplier queries and manage the working capital of the office

- Accounts Receivable – raise all invoices and code to correct departments., chasing debts and producing regular sales ledgers., and escalating collection to client teams where necessary

- Cash Flow – produce weekly rolling cash flow forecasts and handle inter-company financing requirements as well as handle monthly bank reconciliations

- Sales Forecasting – work with department heads to update sales forecast on a weekly basis and review departmental sales against department salary costs, ensuring all teams are staffed appropriately

- Post payroll journals each month based on outsourced payroll reports

-Prepare monthly P&L and Balance Sheet and review against budgets

-Budgeting and Reforecasting – prepare annual budgets and mid-year revisions,  highlighting any discrepancies to management along with appropriate action plans

- Tax and Statutory – work with local tax advisors to ensure all regulatory filings deadlines are met

- Operational Reporting – produce utilization and recovery reports and help to pull together action plans where necessary

-System maintenance – update all rate cards and employee records as well as take ownership for time entry

-Help to set up best practice policies and procedures across the office

Requirements:

-Currently operating at Finance Manager or similar level, preferably in a fast-paced agency environment

- Recently CPA qualified

- Prior experience of a time billing industry with all the associated KPI’s

- A start-up mentality as well as a patient yet firm approach

- An ability to understand micro detail while maintaining a macro view

- Confident in dealing with staff members of all levels

- Previous experience/knowledge of Paprika preferable but not essential

- Ability to liaise and work with consultants and other US and overseas offices
