Group Strategy Director:
Branding and Creative Agency with Beauty Focus

Location: New York, NY or Remote

Based out of New York City, our client is a young and growing multidisciplinary creative agency boasting some of the world’s most in-demand beauty brands and specializing in cut-through strategy, engaging creative and immersive environments. They offer such services key to the creative discipline required in today’s beauty market such as brand and commercial strategy, branding and visual design, creative production, digital and social design, industrial design, visual merchandising and architectural design. 

They currently seek a Group Strategy Director to lead the storytelling arm for the agency, developing client strategies for new-to-market beauty brands, growing beauty brands, and heritage beauty brands. The Group Strategy Director will be responsible for marshalling bold strategies, identifying white space, creating naming, brand positioning and narratives, and go-to-market campaigns. This role is a highly visible leadership role among clients, teams and for new business and is both strategic and creative.

Responsibilities:

- Able to clearly articulate and execute strategic visions per the client brief across new brand launches, existing brand repositioning and re-articulations, and digital campaigns

- Lead the creation and curation of actionable quantitative and qualitative data-driven insights and comfortable conducting competitive research

- Write, research, and analyze information to create brand and communication strategies (e.g., purpose, vision, mission, voice, personality, promise, brand architecture, etc.)

- Create, craft, and deliver presentations / recommendations that resonate with stakeholders to further support and guide the strategic direction for the brand

- Strong presentation and workshop facilitation abilities and can confidently lead clients through an argument or point-of-view

- Adept at engaging with executive/senior clients to help them realize ambitious business outcomes

- Hands-on in the work, creating strategy deliverables and/or guiding and shaping the work of more junior strategists to brand standards

Requirements:

-  7+ years of experience in Brand/Creative Strategy

- Experience in cross-category beauty, including skincare, color cosmetics, haircare, and wellness

- A voracious reader and consumer of culture and trends

- Executive-level communication skills, written and verbal

- Adept at agile storytelling and creative thinking

- Skilled at taking complex and sometimes disparate information and threading together simple, clear, impactful, and emotive brand stories

- A true collaborator with a high degree of cultural and emotional intelligence that thrives in working with multidisciplinary teams with different working styles and perspectives and  in a fast-paced, creative environment

- Proactive self-starter with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive priorities focus for self and team
