People Manager: Exciting DTC Technology Startup
Location: New York, NY or Remote
Our client is a Brooklyn-born direct-to-consumer transportation technology startup looking to help lead cities into a zero-carbon future. They are electrifying cities through charging infrastructure and shared electric vehicle fleets all through a state-of-the-art app. They are in high growth mode, operating in and expanding into multiple cities throughout the US and are committed to a stable model of both full-time and hourly employees on staff instead of relying on the gig economy.
They currently seek a People Manager to lead the team’s employee relations efforts, focusing on facilitating all employee and manager relations from understanding and applying applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances and policies to establishing best practices and programs to maintain positive morale and in accordance with core business values and objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with both senior business stakeholders to develop and implement Employee Relations best practices and programs
- Collate and analyze employee feedback across all levels on a regular basis and revise people programs and policies to generate more positive outcomes
- Participate in and/or leading projects focused on continuous improvement
- Ensure the Company's treatment of employees is consistent with its core business values and objectives
- In the event of any employee relations issues that may arise, have experience with handling them in an appropriate, timely and effective manager and in accordance with procedures, counseling, reporting and in collaboration with stakeholders
- Engage in continuous evaluation of workplace morale and assist in developing and scheduling team-building activities
- Assist in performance review processes across business lines
- Generate communication to employees about relevant topics
- Work with Payroll/Benefits on additional reporting as appropriate
- Work with People Director and Legal to roll out new policies in response to changing needs
- Be the go-to person for employees as a trusted resource for guidance
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in Human Resources administration, including of 3+ years in employee relations
- Bachelor's degree in Employee Relations, Human Resources or related field
- Experience in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS); Ceridian Dayforce system experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of HR policies & procedures
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills in an Apple environment. Must include advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations as well as how they apply to company guidelines, regulations, ordinations and policies
- Can remain tactful, calm, and persuasive under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
