Senior Verbal Director: Global Brand and Design Consultancy

Our client is brand consultancy, based in London, New York City and San Francisco. The company’s purpose is to create transformative brands that push what’s possible for people, businesses and the world, exploring new ways of doing things and using creativity to make a difference.
They currently seek a Senior Verbal Director to join their team as both a practitioner and practice lead to be the storytelling engine within projects and clien programs. The Senior Verbal Director will work with Strategy Directors, Creative Directors, strategists and designers on amplifying the messages the business wants to communicate across all content. The Senior Verbal Director will be responsible for helping brands find their voice and tell their stories, shaping how they are positioned and creating content to communicate their messages in a variety of ways - film scripts to headlines to manifestos and product experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Help sell, scope, and drive verbal identity work to current clients and prospects solving complex problems
- Reinforce the power of the written word to drive better customer and stakeholder experiences with organizations, brands, products, and services
- Lead the development of and author content for verbal identity deliverables including brand voice, naming and messaging (supported by internal or freelance practitioners)
- Collaborate across communities working closely with design and strategy leads to add a strong verbal dimension to the company’s creative output, creating powerful ideas for products, services, communications and more
- Execute on verbal identity work such as bringing brand strategy to life in creative ways, helping bring the way we describe the strategy to life, writing a manifesto for a brand, articulating a brand's personality, creating stories around the brand, bringing creative ideas to life and more.
Requirements:
- 8-10 years of direct, experienced verbal identity experience in an agency environment as both a leader and as a writer
- Possess strong skills as an inventive, original thinker with a talent for words
- Able to write different types of creative copy (long, short, headlines, stories) for a wide range of audiences and purposes
- Able to work across disciplines collaboratively and consistently well with designers, strategists and engagement managers
- Keen to understand the bigger picture of the company’s clients and their worlds
- Articulate and persuasive in presenting your work both in writing and in person, particularly in client meetings and pitches
- Be a recognized change-maker, cutting through the heart of an idea, the crux of an insight and the core of a problem.
