Social Media Director: Award-Winning Digital First Agency
Location: Remote - New York, NY Region
Our client is an award-winning digital first agency specializing in strategic insights and curated design for prominent global brands primarily in the fashion, luxury, beauty and liquor/spirits categories. The agency leverages strategy, insight, and design to seamlessly connect brands to their audience and bring them into the near future. The agency works fully remote in the NY metro region to facilitate occasional meetings and client collaborations.
They seek an experienced and strategic Social Media Director to lead the agency’s social media & influencer initiatives across multiple global brands. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of social media strategy, analytics, and best practices, with a proven track record of managing handles & campaigns for global brands. This role requires a leader who can provide thought leadership, create best-in-class social operations, and show excellence through innovative and data-driven social media strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies for global brands, ensuring alignment with overall marketing goals, inter-agency planning and brand positioning
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of social media & influencer managers, community managers, and coordinators to ensure effective execution of social media campaigns across the US and EU
- Collaborate with the Creative and Strategy Director on developing engaging, high-quality content recommendations across all social media platforms, tailored to resonate with diverse global audiences for both brand-led content and creator-led content
- Oversee creator/influencer led campaigns for a brand securing best practices when sourcing & vetting talent, collaborating with the creative team on Creator Guidelines, leading negotiations and managing talent, when necessary
- Review social media analytics to track performance, optimize strategies, and create client ready reports on KPIs for senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for improvement
- Work closely with accounts, marketing, PR, influencer, creative, strategy and digital teams to ensure cohesive messaging and branding across all channels
- Lead social media crisis communication efforts, developing and implementing response strategies for any negative publicity or issues that arise
- Stay current with emerging social media trends, tools, and technologies, and incorporate them into the strategy to maintain a competitive edge
Requirements:
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in social media strategy & management, including experience working with creators/influencers, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role, preferably within a global brand or digital agency servicing global brand(s)
- Experience and interest in fashion, luxury, beauty and liquor/spirits categories
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- Proven experience in managing social media campaigns for global brands, with a deep understanding of diverse markets and cultural sensitivities, particularly within the liquor/ spirits category
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and drive a team to achieve high performance in a fast paced environment
- Proficient in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Sprinklr, DashHudson), analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights), and content management systems
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret social media metrics and translate them into actionable strategies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- A creative thinker with the ability to innovate and bring fresh ideas to social media and influencer campaigns
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle crisis effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple work streams simultaneously and oversee both a US and EU team
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and clients
- A deep passion for social media, digital trends, and staying ahead of the curve
